Nice Day for a Walk!

It was a little windy near the harbor but once we got past that it was nice nice nice! I thought I'd capture the pups on video on the "home stretch" of our walk. It looks like this video is in fast motion but I guess we were just walking faster than I though. Hopefully nobody gets motion sickness!

Rain Rain Go Away...

...say the Chi's! When it's rainy, the human kids are inside & when the human kids are inside they watch movies. If the movies have to do with dogs in any way (or not) Miss I's imagination gets rolling & the Chi's get volunteered to do a little bit of roll playing! Today the movie was "Underdog" so let me introduce....

"Thunderdog"

and "Wonderdog"

Hawk/Eagle Alert!

Being as it's getting a bit warmer here we've been taking the pups outside to give them a chance to run around & sniff the ground which they haven't been able to do all winter. They're generally good about sticking close to me but are a little bit "rusty" so I've decided to refresh their outside obedience training. While outside the other day, I was reminded on just how careful you have to be with the little dogs. Not only do they need to be supervised closely but also their surroundings as well. Upon admiring the clear sky, here is what I saw. I mighty frightening sight when you have small dogs - especially small dogs off leash.

Just a warning to all - don't forget to continually check the ground AND sky for any possible dangers! I have heard too many stories about little Chi's (and other small breeds) being carried away by birds of prey. Please be cautious!

No crumbs, no paper towels, no problem!

Just get a chi & your life will be so much easier. At least that's what Maxwell's story is.

Each time you sit down to eat in the living room up he pops behind you. Usually you don't even know he's there until you feel this tickle on your cheek while he tries to quiety sneak a sniff (or lick) of what it is you're putting in your mouth, hoping nobody will notice of course. Once in a while he'll grab a lost crumb, piece of lettuce or whatever may fall over our messy human selves. And when caught, he pretends to just be coming over for kiss or two. (of course!) Never mind the mayo that may be smeared in the corner of your mouth. He pretends not to notice as he cleans it right up.

Q-Tips, Ear Plugs & Eye Glasses...OH MY!

And thats just a few of the things Miss Maribelle has decided to drag out & chew today. I'm thinking not only is it a teething thing but quite possibly a little bit of that doggy adolesence stage that I vaguely remember my other Chi's going through. Fun fun fun!

Like I remind hubby...we knew she was a trouble maker BEFORE we brought here home so I suppose...you reap what you sew.

I've come to realize...

I've not peed alone in the past year. Nope, I've always got at least one set of eyes on me at all times. Matilda is religious about following my every move and usually either Maribelle or Maxwell are close to follow. Milo generally can't be bothered. Nine times out of ten he's too busy napping...

(and no, I wasn't peeing while taking the picture but I did follow my regular routine otherwise)

Teething, Cord Danger & some Mama time!

So Maribelle is 5 1/2 months now & apparently in the full swing of teething. None of the Chi's have been big chewers by any means except for the occassional "oopsie". Any chewing they do on a daily basis though is appropriately done to their own toys. HOWEVER, today Maribelle decided that the end to our laptop power cords soothes her aching teeth/gums! After catching her the first time I sort of put the cord up out of reach & kid you not 10 minutes later she had managed to sneak up, get the cord & chewed a bunch more. Thankfully, her little mouth is small enough not enough damage was done that it would electricute her. However, one tiny puncture could have been devistating.

Moral of the story?...Even if your pup has shown no interest in cords, don't think that some day the mood may not strike!

Also, a picture share from this evening. After our human kids go to bed (they each take a pup to bed as well) the two tinies have their Mama to themselves. So if you happen to stop in any time after 7...this is probably what you'll walk in to. Mama in her 11 year olds robe & all! LOL

Welcome!

If you know me, you will know that I like to talk about my Chi babies...a bit too much maybe. ;o) So I thought it would be fun to have a blog where I can share the adventures that go along with living with a pack of Chihuahuas...along with the tons of photos I take of them as well!
